Voto is the latest Chinese smartphone brand to enter India. The company is expected to launch three affordable smartphones today. Entering a highly competitive and budget conscious market, Voto aims to sell a million units and generate a revenue worth of Rs 700 crore by the end of the fiscal year.
According to ET, this is the first time Voto has considered to expand its presence outside China. After India, the company eyes other markets such as Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. To state the obvious, the company seems to be already aware of its biggest competitor Xiaomi in the affordable smartphone bracket. Xiaomi currently dominates the Indian market, thanks to its aggressive pricing strategies. Voto is aiming to enter with a similar price portfolio as Xiaomi.

Alongside Voto, few other Chinese smartphone companies have debuted in India this year with iVoomi and Infinix to join much recently. China-based Techno Mobile has been around for some time, and Comio is another smartphone brand based out of China that will debut later this month.
According to Counterpoint Research, the likes of Xiaomi, VivoOppo, andGionee are the fastest growing brands, which is a result of the aggressive push into the offline space. Over the years, these China-based manufacturers have also setup their own manufacturing units to make smartphones locally in India, subsequently bringing down their market price. Voto too, will be considering setting up a manufacturing unit in India. ALSO READ: LTE phones base in India cross 150 million units in Q2 2017; Chinese brands hold over 50% share: Counterpoint

India-based Rashi Peripherals and Redington will import Voto smartphone from mainland China. The company has also signed RV solutions to setup a total of 612 services centers across India, which offer after sales services for Voto products.
