Apple iPhone 8 launch today: How to live stream on Windows devices
NEW DELHI: Apple is a little over 12 hours away from launching its upcoming smartphone, widely tipped as the iPhone X or the iPhone 8. This time the firm is holding the event at Steve Jobs Theatre located in Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. The event will commence from 10.30PM in India.
Like it has been the case since years, Apple will be live streaming the iPhone 8 launch event using its HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology. This particular streaming tech is supported by several Apple devices including iOS, tvOS and MacOS. This spans across several iPhone models, iPad tablets, Macbook laptops and Apple TV. However, things become a little difficult for Microsoft users. Not all Windows-based devices can support Apple's live stream event. However, there is a way.
Microsoft Windows 10 users can still view the Apple's live stream of iPhone 8 launch on their laptops and tablets by using the company's own browser, Microsoft Edge. Since past couple of years Apple has allowed Windows 10 users to view Apple's event live using the Edge browser. So, if you already have a Windows 10 device, you won't need to worry much.
Unfortunately, Apple's arch rival Google has got no allowance to stream the event live officially. So ChromeOS users or Android users will have no access to Apple's iPhone 8 launch event until unless someone uses third-party tools to indirectly stream it on YouTube.
Apple iPhone 8 or iPhone X is said to cost upwards of $1000. Fast Company was among the first to report the same in February this year. Since then numerous leaks and rumours have supported the same pricing. With this pricing, Apple will be testing a new financial frontier for its smartphones. Some leaks have also suggested that the price could start at $1,100.
The high price is being said to come due to several new features in the handset. Some of the rumoured features of the handset include improved processor, 3GB RAM, face recognition, IR front-facing camera, dual-rear cameras and an edge-to-edge OLED display.
