NEW DELHI: While Apple has already announced the unveiling date of its next iPhone models, Google's event too is coming close. The search giant has all but confirmed that it will be launching the Pixel and the Pixel XL successors this year. There have been several rumours in the past about the upcoming 'Pixel 2' smartphone. Now, some more alleged details including the smartphone's build, storage and more have been reported by the 9to5Google website.

The website claims to have obtained some new images of the rumoured Pixel 2 from a 'trusted source' along with some other information. The smartphone is said to have an aluminum back panel for the 3/4th part and glass panel for the 1/4th part from the top, somewhat similar to what was seen in the Pixel and the Pixel XL. The smartphone will have a black front panel. It has been revealed that the duo will be IP68 rated, same as the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, Note 8 and LG V30.

One of the images shows two black dots below the rear camera, which are said to be the send and receive laser autofocus sensors. The smartphone is seen with a single rear camera setup at the back. Furthermore, it has been revealed that the device will come in at least 64GB and 128GB variants. It might be possible that the 64GB model could be the base variant.

The website also confirms that the smartphone will have the same large bezels on the sides at the front. The Pixel 2 is supposed to feature a 4.9-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) screen. What might disappoint Pixel fans is that the smartphone will not include a 3.5mm headphone jack. Google could be planning to offer its Assistant-based headphones along with the device as a trade off for the missing 3.5mm headphone jack.

Google Lens, which was talked about by the company during the IO developer's conference, will also be rolling out officially alongside the Google Pixel 2 smartphones. The devices will likely run Android 8.0 Oreo at the time of the launch.

The 'source' has also said that the accessory manufacturers have PR embargoes for the Pixel 3 smartphones until October 5, same day when they are said to launch according to smartphone tipster Evan Blass.
